Fire safety officers are investigating a fire which badly damaged a building at New Plymouth Girls' High School last night.
Fire Service Central Communications spokesperson Mike Wanoa said crews were called to the blaze about 10.30pm.
"When crews arrived shortly after the building was fully involved in fire," Mr Wanoa said.
At the height of the fire there were four fire trucks at the scene, he said.

"They were able to contain the fire within 35 minutes."
Mr Wanoa did not know the extent of the damage at the school.
He said no one was injured in the fire.
Fire safety officers are investigating the cause of the blaze.
