The police armed offenders squad used flash-bang grenades to apprehend a man involved in a domestic incident in west Auckland last night.
Police northern communications spokesman Inspector Willie Taylor said police were called to a house on Semillon Ave about 9pm.
"It was a domestic incident that required an elevated response from police due to threats made by a man at the address," he said.
The man was believed to have been armed.
"A series of flash-bangs were used during the course of the incident."
The AOS negotiated with the man who eventually gave himself up.
The man was expected to appear in court this morning, police said.
