Hosts of Good Morning face the axe after a shake-up at the TVNZ show.
The show will return in a shortened, one-hour form next year, but there are no guarantees that hosts Rod Cheeseman and Jeanette Thomas will be there.
Good Morning had lost viewers since it ditched former hosts Brendan Pongia and Sarah Bradley at the end of 2011, and viewing figures appeared to take another hit when The Shopping Channel launched at the beginning of October.
However, TVNZ spokeswoman Megan Richards said the new channel had no bearing on their decision to reduce the show from three hours to one.
"The changes that are planned are part of increased scrutiny of all our programming.
"Regarding the presenters, no decision has been made yet - we're still working through the detail."
A decision would be made in the new year. At last night's TV awards, Good Morning co-presenter Matai Smith said he'd been told the show would be returning with just one presenter.
The show has been attracting around 70,000 viewers against 80,000 last year.
