Search teams are scouring areas a missing Nelson woman was known to visit, police say.

Ann Sheridan, 48, was reported missing on Monday.

Her car and wallet were found at her home and her bank accounts had not been touched.

Police yesterday interviewed family and friends and completed a search of Ms Sheridan's home.

Senior Sergeant Grant Andrews said a number of recurring themes came out of those interviews which had led to identifying today's search areas.

He said 32 people were in the field this morning, divided into four teams.

They were grid searching the Wakapuaka Cemetery and surrounding bush before moving towards the Centre of New Zealand.

The search would then extend to the Grampians and the Brook area, Mr Andrews said.

A specialist search dog was arriving in Nelson this afternoon and would join the search.

He said police held grave concerns for Ms Sheridan's safety and would like to speak with anyone who had contact with her, or who thinks they may have seen her, since Saturday.
