One of the two men accused of bashing and robbing two 21-year-old French male tourists in Papamoa in July remains behind bars after he was refused bail.
Bo-Tamati Rawiri, 25, from Ngaruawahia, faces two charges of aggravated robbery. He appeared in Tauranga District Court yesterday and sought electronic bail. Police opposed bail and Judge Louis Bidois remanded him in custody.
Rawiri who is yet to enter pleas to the charges is back in court on September 12 for a judicial intervention hearing, the same day his alleged co-offender Che Bridger, 24, from Mount Maunganui, who is also in custody, is back in court for the same reason.
