Police are renewing their call for information for a Chinese student who disappeared in 2005.
Lei Nie, also known as Andrew, who was on an expired student visa, was last seen in Christchurch around May 13 that year.
Detective Sergeant Corey Watts says given the lack of information, police are re-launching their appeal to the public.
"There's no evidence to suggest that Mr Nie has been a victim of foul play.
"He may be in New Zealand or may have returned to China and we urge any of his associates or friends to come forward and speak with police if they can provide any information whatsoever into his whereabouts."
Mr Nie, who would now be aged 32, was understood to have been having financial problems at the time of his disappearance and there had been suggestions he had returned to China.
"Without any strong leads, police have been unable to locate him and it is possible that he is still in New Zealand," Mr Watts said.
Anyone with any information should contact Wellington Police on (04) 381 2000 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
