Police seek witnesses to horrific Auckland crash

A 22-year-old man died after an horrific crash around 2.50am this morning in Auckland.

Auckland police are appealing to the occupants of two vehicles that were in the vicinity of Carbine Road and South Eastern Highway at approximately 2.50 am this morning to come forward.

A witness has described seeing a modified silver coloured car driving at speed through this intersection moments before the fatal crash.

A second vehicle a green early model Toyota Corolla or similar was seen by a witness to stop and uplift two males walking on Carbine Road minutes after the crash.

Police have arrested a 17-year-old male with Unlawfully Getting Into a Motor Vehicle who is presently receiving hospital treatment.

Police are continuing inquiries to identify the driver of the stolen Subaru.
