A 53-year-old New Zealand mother has been found dead in Melbourne.
Police say Linda Parker had suffered multiple stab wounds and homicide detectives are leading the investigation.
Her body, found around 12.50am (AEDT) today, was taken away several hours later from her flat along Kanooka Grove, in Doveton.
"We'd be interested to hear from anyone who may have had any knowledge of movement to or from this address in the last day or so, but particularly last night,'' Detective Senior Sergeant Stephen McIntyre told reporters near the crime scene.
Parker, who was from New Zealand, had worked as a cleaner at a nearby plaza and lived with her teenage daughter.
According to The Age of Australia, a 17-year-old girl was interviewed by detectives today over the case. Police would not say if the girl was related to the victim.
Neighbours described the home as the scene of frequent arguments, but even they were startled this time.
"I heard noises and my little dog woke me up,'' one worried neighbour told AAP.
"But I don't know what has happened. I got up and I saw a van was speeding down the street and around the roundabout.''
"I always had a chat with her. I knew her quite well,'' she said.
"I'm quite upset about it.''
