An Auckland banker jailed in Dubai after an alcohol-fuelled romp with an ex-stripper is back in New Zealand - and on the social scene.
Toby Carroll, 34, was arrested in Dubai in December for having sex outside marriage by the police he had called to quell a fight between two of his lovers.
Brazilian model Priscilla Ferreira stormed in on Carroll when he was in bed with Danielle Spencer, a former stripper from England, leading to the smashing of furniture and threats at knifepoint.
As sex outside marriage in the United Arab Emirates is illegal, Carroll was sentenced to two months in prison.
The former HSBC analyst was released in August and deported to Britain. At the time, his lawyer Salman Lufti said he planned to reunite with Spencer.
But Carroll is now back in New Zealand and was snapped out with his ex-girlfriend Anna Jobsz at a glamorous Melbourne Cup function at Sale St bar last Tuesday.
Carroll, in a suit jacket and unbuttoned white shirt, posed with Ms Jobsz at the $60-a-ticket function, which included a three-course lunch and champagne for guests.
Ms Jobsz refused to comment when approached yesterday, saying she would have to ask Toby before she said anything about his return. She contacted Carroll but he did not respond.
"I can't get a comment from Toby, I did check," she said.
Following his arrest Ms Jobsz, who confirmed the pair dated, told the Herald she was shocked to hear of his predicament.
"Toby is an amazing guy ... He's an absolute lovely guy. He's a top character and I can tell you from experience ... he's a gentleman in every way."
Carroll, whose Facebook page says he is in London, has never spoken publicly about the sex scandal.
