He's the Kiwi cartoonist with plenty of lead in the pencil - Herald on Sunday contributor Peter Bromhead has become a father again at 78.
Felix Vincent Bromhead arrived a couple of weeks ago and now tips the scales at 5kg. He is a brother for 5-year-old Oscar.
Bromhead, above, is a multi-award winner responsible for the cartoons on our editorial page (p48). He has been married for 12 years to Carolyn, who is in her mid-30s.
Bromhead brushed off suggestions he could be the oldest dad in Australasia, saying that record was held by a 111-year-old tuatara.
Bromhead has been married twice before.
He said his two grown-up sons from his second marriage thought it was great, but his daughter from his first marriage thought 56 years between siblings was pushing it.
Bromhead said the baby was unplanned.
He said he was likely to have to cartoon into his 90s now to pay for school fees.
New Zealand Woman's Weekly has pictures of Felix and Carolyn this week along with a family interview.
