A 16-year-old will appear in Christchurch Youth Court tomorrow charged over a power company phone scam.
Acting Detective Sergeant Hamish Wilson said police had received eight complaints about the scam in the past two months.
Complainants had been phoned by someone claiming to be from Meridian or Contact Energy and told their power would be cut off unless they supplied their credit card details.
The youth has also been charged with accessing a computer system for a dishonest purpose.
