Kerikeri police investigating three sex attacks in the Northland town last month say there has been another incident involving a woman.
They say a 21-year-old woman was approached by a man while she was walking home on Cobham Rd yesterday about 1.45am but she ran off before calling police.
The woman was unhurt but police were keen to talk to her to find out exactly what happened.
It was the fourth incident, involving women walking home alone, that were being investigated by Kerikeri police, said Detective Sergeant Kevin Burke.
There were three sex attacks on women in central Kerikeri last month. The first was on July 9, followed by attacks on July 17 and 23. Police said that following the attacks they were investigating a complaint of rape.
Mr Burke says police were still keen to hear from anyone may have seen these incidents or a lone person walking or running at the times the incidents happened.
Police have increased patrols in the area and urged people to walk in groups or catch taxis home after a night out.
