A woman was indecently assaulted as she waited for a bus in Hamilton this morning.

Detective Sergeant Andy BuBear, of Hamilton CIB, said the 26-year-old woman was waiting for a bus on Garnett Ave, Te Rapa, about 9.35am.

A man indecently assaulted her there before fleeing on foot towards the Waterworld swimming complex.

The man had brown skin and short black hair and was wearing "warm" clothing.

Police appealed for the public's help to identify him.
