A couple found guilty of luring women into their van and raping them have been jailed at the High Court at Hamilton today.
Jason Lloyd Jones, 38, who had been found guilty of two counts of sexual violation by rape, was sentenced to nine-and-a half-years on each count.
The terms were to be served concurrently.
Maureen Samantha Iti, 33, was jailed for four-and-a-half years after she was found guilty on one count of rape in February.
The prosecution said Jones and Iti lured women into their vehicle, plied them with alcohol and raped them.
The jury failed to reach a verdict on another charge of rape against the pair, from Tamahere, 9km southeast of Hamilton, and one of indecent exposure against Jones.
The Crown said it would seek a retrial on these charges.

Warbirds over Wanaka
Hundreds of aviation enthusiasts turned out to see some impressive aircraft in action yesterday at a preview of the Warbirds over Wanaka show this weekend. The popular event had been grounded for the past six years, partly because of Covid pandemic restrictions. This Easter weekend it returns, with a sellout crowd of more than 60,000 people set to attend today and tomorrow. Photos / George Heard
