Prime Minister John Key has batted away criticism over a $275,000 makeover for his Wellington residence -- the latest in a string of taxpayer-funded government activities being questioned.
Figures showed that the Diplomatic Protection Squad had blown its budget by $800,000, with Labour accusing the Prime Minister of using his police security officers to create a personal entourage.
The Prime Minister also recently accepted a free ride in a helicopter, decided it 'wasn't a good look' and taxpayers ended up footing the $2000 bill.
