The Earthquake Commission has rejected more than 8000 claims from the Christchurch earthquake.
Of the 48,300 claims assessed, 18,800 have been paid and 8700 have been declined.
Most were rejected because no damage was found, damage was not deemed to be from the earthquake, or because duplicate claims had been made.
