Students removed from mainstream education because of truancy or behavioural issues are more likely to smoke, drink, have unprotected sex, drive dangerously and commit suicide, Auckland University research shows.
The report released yesterday found the already vulnerable students also had worse physical and mental health than mainstream youth.
