More than 1300 police officers nationwide have failed their physical fitness test.
Of the 8467 constables, sergeants and senior sergeants who were required to complete the physical competency test every two years, 1353 had not passed, the Dominion Post reported.
Auckland police district produced the best results with 11 per cent of non-passes followed by the Tasman district with 12 per cent. But in Wellington, Northland and Waitemata, 21 per cent or more failed.
Police officers who did not have a pass the physical competency test (PCT) did not get a pay increase, while those who passed get $1390.
