A golfer suffered a dislocated shoulder and fractured ribs after he was run over and trapped by a runaway golf cart near Taupo today.
The 67-year-old victim was trapped under the cart at the Wairakei International Golf Course until fellow golfers lifted it off him, Youthtown Trust Rescue Helicopter base manager Hendry de Waal said.
The accident happened about midday when the cart driver lost control of the vehicle, he said.
St Johns paramedics treated the man at the scene and he was flown to Waikato Hospital for further assessment.
The golf course manager was not immediately available for comment.
