One person was killed and four injured in a two-car crash at Okere Falls, near Rotorua, this afternoon, police said.

One adult died and two other adults and two children were injured.

Ambulances took the injured to Rotorua Hospital.

The crash occurred at the junction of State Highway 33 and Okere Falls Rd, 20km northeast of Rotorua.
