Six people charged after an 18-year-old was hospitalised with a slashed throat in south Auckland have appeared in court.
Five males, aged 38, 31, 19, 18 and 16, and a 39-year-old woman, appeared in court in Papakura following the attack in Marybeth Place, Papakura about 5.20pm.
The victim remains in Middlemore Hospital in a stable condition with a laceration to his neck. His condition was critical overnight.
The 16-year-old appeared in Papakura Youth Court, while the other five appeared in Papakura District Court. All will reappear in Papakura Youth Court on May 22 as they are jointly charged.
All those who appeared in Papakura District Court were granted bail.
Police said this morning they did not believe at this stage that the incident was gang-related.
