At a press conference this afternoon, police said the man is Caucasian and aged in his mid-30s but they have yet to confirm his identity.

His body is to remain where it was found until tomorrow when it will be sent for an autopsy.
Police with a metal detector are mounting a grid search of the Parnell address after a homicide inquiry was launched.
The body of the man was found at about 9pm yesterday in an apartment at Claybrook Rd in Parnell, a suburb of Auckland.
The flat remained cordoned off today while police and forensic experts examined the scene.

A car has been cordoned off by police and the street sealed to traffic.
Police are cutting back undergrowth nearby with a machete in the search for clues.
