Firefighters who specialise in hazardous materials have been sent to a bond store at Auckland airport after a container was reported to be leaking.
The Fire Service said it was not yet sure what the chemical was but five fire engines, the hazardous materials truck and fire police had been dispatched to the scene.
Fire Service shift manager Megan Ruru said the area would be secured until the chemical had been declared safe.
