Four men were arrested after a bar-side brawl in the early hours of this morning.
Police said Ashburton officers arrested four men in their 20s on Burnett St, when a fight broke out as they left a local bar just after its closing time of 3am.
Security staff alerted police to a "large group of intoxicated males" fighting and acting in a disorderly manner on Tancred St.
The fight moved into vacant land off Burnett St and ended up near the Burnett St arcade where a number of windows were smashed, police said.
Police worked with security staff and hotel employees to bring the fight under control.
"It is believed that the events developed from a verbal argument involving the males and some of their associates," a police spokesperson said.
There were no serious injuries or weapons involved.
On Thursday, 10 people were arrested and one person was hospitalised after members of Black Power and the Mongrel Mob fought with baseball bats, axes and sticks in central Ashburton.
Police said this morning's incident was not related to the rioting earlier in the week.
