Welcome, if ...
Your correspondent Peter Dunne (Letters, June 21), continues to demonstrate his long-standing vacuity.
His tirade against those who seek to ensure that migrants/refugees will not adversely affect New Zealand's relatively peaceful history/culture is clearly not something particularly relevant to the Far North, so it's something he's circulated to every newspaper in the country. The Northland Age deserves better.
As for his tirade, one might ask Mr Dunne why he has a fence/wall around his residential property.
I think we can conclude, from his own rant, that it is a testament to his bigotry against those who might try to enter uninvited. Perhaps he also seeks to prevent the ingress of persons who might behave offensively.
The idolatry of bi-culturalism and/or multi-culturalism, of which Mr Dunne is a hypocritical devotee, has brought about Isis and its vile terrorism.
The time is well past for Western civilisation to stand fast for its Judeo-Christian heritage, and to demand that those who seek to take refuge in that peaceful, generous, compassionate milieu accommodate themselves to the culture that surrounds it.
If migrants/refugees are not willing to accept that requirement, they are not welcome.
Europe is now in deep trouble because it has not made that demand of migrants/refugees.
