Forty-five teams took part in the first Centre event of the season when the Centre pennants were completed last weekend.

Difficult conditions at some venues made for close games and it was certainly a weekend to get the cobwebs out of bowl delivery ready for the season ahead.

Preliminary results were:

Women - Section One: 1) Kensington 'A'; 2) Hikurangi; 3) Kensington 'O'
Section Two - 1) Kamo Tuis; 2) Kensington 'R'; 3) Mangawhai Green
Men - Section One: 1) Mangawhai No 1; 2) Kensington Yellow; 3) Kensington White
Section Two - 1) Kamo Knights; 2) Onerahi; 3) Maungatapere

Full results are on the Centre website.

This weekend sees Auckland Centre (women) and North Harbour (Men) playing their Premier singles events. Good luck to those Northland Bowlers who are competing in these events.

Entries close today (Thursday) for the Centre Open Mixed Pairs.

The teams entered in this event are on the Centre website. Please check that your name is listed and if not, check with the Centre Events Manager as entries are sometimes 'lost in cyber space'.

Remember also that team members do not have to be from the same club. Last year's winners and runners-up have both entered in another attempt to win the title.

The winners will represent Northland in the regional final to be played later in the season here in Northland.

Umpires Association members are reminded that the next meeting is tomorrow at 10am at the Centre office.
