Teams had to adapt and change their play as wind and sometimes rain had featured during the latest round of the premier reserve netball competition.
After playing Marist 1 in the promotion relegation game before Easter, newcomers Hora Hora Maroon have had a great start to the grade with two close wins from previous weeks.
However, this week was not to be when they met Whangaruru 1 who took the game out 49-20.
Despite the loss, Hora Hora player of the day Shanaya TeRuna played an outstanding game at goal attack.
For Whangaruru, they had strengths throughout the court.
Goal keeper Ringi Hohepa lead the team from the defence end reading play, gaining tips and rebounds. Through the midcourt Caysha Kingi at wing defence was there for support at the transverse for the attacking end which consisted of the mother-daughter shooting combination of Sophie Tua at goal shoot and Sophy Tua-Martin at goal attack.
For Hora Hora, shooter Rachel Pilcher showed her experience and level head during the game, pairing up well with Kyla Williams who was having to shoot under immense pressure from the defence of Geena Gillespie, Emily Wihongi and Hayley Taylor.
Young goal shooter Tayla Riini played a strong game and her team the win.
In the final game of the day Fideliter 2 played Whangarei Girls High School (WGHS) 2.
Here, the weather played a major factor, as the wind was cold and the rain started to fall.
Fideliter made the most of WGHS errors and scored off every opportunity, as they were too fast and experienced for the young school team.
The Fideliter coach had the opportunity to get all players on court during the game.
Although the game was very much out of reach for WGHS, Sherron Dods playing at goal keep got a number of intercepts, tips and rebounds for her team.
Fideliter ultimately took out the convincing 47-10 victory.
