Whangarei Boys' High School have notched up another win after taking down Bream Bay College 50-10 in the second round of the NorthTec Adam Blair secondary schools rugby league competition.
The defending champions, Boys' High showed their depth by utilising their wider squad and were too strong for the visitors.
Newcomers Te Kapehu Whetu gave the 2014 champions, Kamo High School, a run for their money in a tightly contested game.
Playing right to the bitter end, Te Kapehu Whetu unleashed their thrilling, youthful talent, however, the home side were able to overcome in the end, winning 34-20.
In other games, Dargaville High School took on Tikipunga in what ended in a 66-6 blow-out. Tikipunga were depleted by players due to school commitments and injuries.
In the North Pool, the new combined team of Te Kura Kaikohe and Taipa beat Whangaroa College in a tight match which saw the teams tied at halftime, 10-all.
Despite this, TKKM/Taipa were able to see out the match with a close 26-20 win.
Meanwhile, Kaitaia College showed their dominance, and why they are contenders, beating Abundant Life convincingly. Okaihau College and Bay of Islands College had the Round 2 byes.
