A serious police case involving the robbery of a Whangarei bank by masked and armed robbers will feature on a television show tonight, with the offenders yet to be arrested.
The heavily disguised duo robbed the ANZ bank on the corner of Bank St and Rust Ave in central Whangarei, on March 24 about 11.30am.
They demanded cash before fleeing and being chased by former policeman Gavin Benney before they got into a red Holden Commodore in Second Ave.
Nine bank staff and two customers were present at the time but none were injured.
Since then a police team have continued to work on the case and tomorrow the case is scheduled to run on television show Police Ten 7 tonight on Channel 2 at 7.30pm.
Detective Inspector Aaron Proctor said filming with the show's host Detective Sergeant Rob Lemoto and officers involved in the case had happened in Whangarei on Monday.
The crew visited sites that were of significance to the case and most of the filming was done inside and near Lover's Lane, at the rear of the Whangarei Library.
"Using this show is an another avenue we can use to help us get more public information and bring these people to account," Proctor said.
During the investigation police had released security footage from the bank of the two suspects in the hope members of the public may recognise them. However, no arrests had been made.
The images showed two heavily-disguised males, one of whom was carrying a firearm, demand cash from staff before fleeing the scene on foot.
One offender was wearing a grey hooded top and dark trousers, while the other was wearing a dark-coloured top with a hood and dark trousers. The dark coloured top had a logo on the back.
Police also appealed for any sightings of a red 2004 SS Commodore that was in the surrounding area around the time of the robbery. Police have never revealed how much money was taken in the robbery or how much if any had been recovered.
