Crown seeks boats and cash forfeiture
A Crown application for the forfeiture of two boats and cash from the biggest meth bust in Kaitaia will be back in the High Court in December.
The matter was called in the High Court at Whangarei yesterday and adjourned to December 7.
Six Auckland men were arrested in connection with the seizure of 448kg of meth from the back of a campervan on June 19 last year, and a further 46kg from bags buried in sand dunes on Ninety Mile Beach.
Daffodil Day set to blossom
The Cancer Society's annual flagship event Daffodil Day - one of the most iconic fundraising and cancer awareness events in New Zealand - is on next week. A range of events will be held around Northland on Friday, August 25 to raise money for the charity.
A Daffodil Festival will be held in the Cameron Street Mall from 11am to 3pm and will feature performers and dancers and more. Other events will be held around the Far North and will include street appeals in Kawakawa, Russell, Paihia, Opua. Accident delays traffic
A nose-to-tail accident south of Whangarei caused a disruption to motorists on their morning commute yesterday. Police said no one was injured in the accident which happened on a bridge on State Highway One north of the intersection with Loop Rd at about 8.15am.
