About 100 people from all walks of life turned up to celebrate India's 70th anniversary of independence at an event in Whangarei.
Saturday's function at NorthTec Apprentice Restaurant was organised by the Northland Indian Association and featured songs, dances, a quiz competition, a newspaper game, and sharing of finger foods.
Association executives acknowledged the presence of everyone and encouraged the multiracial and multicultural mix of people to mingle and get to know each other throughout the programme.
The event started with India's national anthem. The Association kindly supplied the Northern Advocate these photos from the occasion.
