A man has been airlifted from a forestry area north of Dargaville.
The man, understood to be a forestry worker, had parked his ute at the end of Middleton Rd in Mamaranui yesterday, when it began to roll slowly away.
A forestry company spokesman said as the man reached in and applied the handbrake, he slipped and pulled a hamstring.
At the time, there were concerns the man may have damaged his pelvis.
A Northland Rescue Helicopter spokesman said the helicopter responded at about 7.35am and was on scene at about 8.10am.
The man was winched out because of the reasonably inaccessible area.
"It was a straight forward winch in good conditions."
Firefighters from Dargaville also attended.
