Charges against a man, including allegedly shooting at three Whangarei police officers and unlawfully taking a $50,000 police car, are to be reviewed before his next court appearance.
Joshua Mason Kite, 34, who lists his occupation on official documents as driver, appeared via video link before Judge Duncan Harvey in the Whangarei District Court on Wednesday.
Judge Harvey said the crown was going to resubmit a charge list and remanded Kite in custody until February 1.
Kite faces three charges of using a firearm against police - one female and two male officers - relating to an incident on August 26 last year. Other charges relating to the same date are two of kidnapping, and impersonating a police officer.
There are two additional charges of unlawfully taking a motor vehicle including a $50,000 police patrol car. He faces other serious charges relating to incidents in Porirua and Wellington.
Police allege Kite fired at officers on Kamo Rd in the early hours of August 26 then stole their patrol car as they ducked for cover.
They say he then stopped a couple on Raumanga Valley Rd, forced them from their car and drove off in it.
The hunt for Kite saw Maungaturoto, Kaiwaka and Mangawhai locked down by armed police.
