They're big, they're bold, they've got a name everyone instantly recognises, and Whangarei has just hosted a mighty show of the iconic ''Yank tanks''.

Cadillacs from all over New Zealand gathered over the weekend for the annual general meeting of the Cadillac La Falle club.

About 20 cars came from Whanganui and Tauranga and other places in between for the Cadillac nationals show and annual meeting.

Elaine Hooker, from the La Falle Club said they expected a range from ''big old Cadillacs and more modern ones".

On Saturday the Cadillacs were driven to the former Northland Toyota site opposite Pak'nSave, where they were displayed to the public from 11.30am to 1pm.

Ms Hooker said each year the club visits different parts of the country.

"People love the cars, that's why we have a park and display as part of the weekend."
