Community Day plans
Preparations are underway for NorthTec's third annual Community Day due to be held next month.

The event is an opportunity for families to find out more about tertiary study options and enjoy a day out with free food and entertainment.

This year's main attraction is a giant water slide, so children should bring their togs and be prepared to get wet. NorthTec staff will be available to chat and hand out information, and there will be interactive stalls ranging from blood pressure testing by the nursing department to professional nail painting by the team from beauty therapy.

The Community Day will be held at the main NorthTec campus on Raumanga Valley Rd from 10am to 1pm on Sunday, November 6.

Bail denied

The Whangarei District Court has denied electronically monitored bail for a man facing serious driving charges.

Shane Legg, 32, a gib stopper from Ruawai, appeared on Monday via audio visual link on charges of driving while disqualified, dangerous driving, and failing to stop. He is yet to enter pleas. The incident happened on Whareora Rd, Whangarei, on September 3. Legg will re-appear on November 7.
