The playoff picture became a lot clearer following two high-scoring thrillers in the Scott Electrical Premiership.
With Northern Wairoa succumbing to Otangarei 54-36 and Moerewa outlasting Portland 56-34, the four teams in the finals were secured.
However, the last round will determine home advantage for the top seeds.
Takahiwai, Moerewa, Otangarei and Portland have locked their spots in the playoffs.
Portland will stay fourth and Otangarei will remain third regardless of how the final regular season plays out.
However, the stage is set for a clash of the titans at Takahiwai.
Moerewa have the chance to pip Takahiwai at the post following their win over Portland.
Meanwhile, Northern Wairoa will have to look to mounting their challenge next year after their disappointing final match.
This was their last chance to make the finals as they have the enforced bye following Hokianga's default.
In the other result, Portland's loss to Moerewa was offset by Otangarei's win, oddly securing their place in the finals.
