The Centre summer season has come to a close with the Champion of Champion Pairs being concluded last weekend.
This match resulted in a win for John Dunn and Ian Halls (Onerahi) over Kevin Robinson and Wayne Wrack (Maungaturoto) by 17 shots to 12. Congratulations to both teams on a hard-fought match.
The Centre Awards night and presentation of trophies will be held at the Kamo Club on July 2. Tickets are now available and can be booked and paid for via the Centre Office.
Clubs are also advised that nominations for the Centre Awards for 2016-17 have been extended to close on June 10. Please get your nominations into the office by closing date.
Nominations are called for Player of the Year, Club of the Year, Administrator of the Year, Team of the Year, Young Player of the Year (under 25), Coach of the Year and Green Keeper of the Year. Nominations will be accepted from clubs and individuals.
The Centre AGM will be held on June 19 at 1pm at Whangarei headquarters. All clubs are reminded that they should have an appointed delegate attend.
Nominations are required for president and board members for the coming year.
Section play for the Tiger Turf sponsored mixed three-player pairs start at Onerahi on June 12 and will be followed by events at Hikurangi on June 28 and at One Tree Point. Get your entries in to the clubs involved early as only 16 teams are accepted at each event. This competition culminates in a New Zealand final and there are great cash prizes available at all events.
Don't forget that winter tournaments are now being played at all clubs where winter greens are available and you could be playing bowls every day of the week if you are keen.
Contact clubs for entries and remember they have all variety of competition available including 1-10 triples, pairs, triples and fours events. Check the Centre hand book for their winter timetables.
