Police were called to a shooting incident in Houhora last night.

A Far North teenager was injured when shots were fired last night in a dispute over a front-end loader.

The 18-year-old man was taken to Kaitaia Hospital to be treated for superficial injuries.

Meanwhile, police are continuing to interview a 47-year-old man about the incident at 8.50pm in Houhora, about 45km north of Kaitaia.

The shots were fired at a vehicle during an altercation over a front-end loader.

Police have seized a number of firearms and plan to interview the 18-year-old, along with several other people, once he is discharged from hospital.

No charges had been laid as of 11.30am today.

The incident is not believed to be gang related.
