Police are asking for the public's help after two aggravated robberies in Whangarei yesterday.
A 66-year-old man was delivering pizzas to a property in Paramount Parade, Tikipunga about 7pm when he was robbed.
When he drove into the driveway of the house he was confronted by a man. The victim went to phone the number that had sent the pizza order when the man threatened him with a knife and demanded money.
The man lent through the victim's car window and tried to take the keys. The victim handed over some cash and then left in his car.
Police were called and a police dog tracked the area. Police officers also carried out area inquiries, but the offender was not found.
Earlier in the day a 23-year-old woman was walking through Tawera Park near the skate bowl about 4.30pm when she was confronted by an man she didn't know who presented a knife at her and then robbed her of her cellphone and some credit cards.
He then ran through the park towards Maunu Road.
The man is described as dark skinned of medium build, about 165cm tall, wearing a blue hoodie - with the hood up - and black sunglasses.
Detective Sergeant Dave Hamilton said police were following strong leads in the incident at Tikipunga and thanked residents in the area for their co-operation while police staff were door knocking as part of their inquiries.
Police would like to hear from anyone who witnessed or has any information relating to both aggravated robberies.
