Four talented young musicians from Whangarei will take on their counterparts from around the upper North Island in the Northern Regional final of the New Zealand Community Trust Chamber Music Contest in Auckland on Sunday.
The four, Maia-Dean Martin, violin, who is home educated; Katie Woodward, violin, Briah Petersen, violin, and Frances Christian-Farrow, violin, all from Whangarei Girls' High School, are known as Pugs of Dub City (Brioso4) and won the right to represent Northland at the local contest held in Whangarei last week.
Thirty talented young musicians took part in the Northland heat and organiser Atsuko Fukuako said the standard of musicianship on show was very high.
Advocate photographer John Stone went along to Forum North to capture these images of the young musicians.
