The National Championships have continued this week with several Northland teams playing in the fours. This tournament concludes today.
The past seven days have seen the completion of the singles and pairs of this event.
Well done to Diane Strawbridge who reached the quarter-finals of the singles and to Margaret Gurney and Sally Stirling who also qualified in this event.
In the men's singles, the qualifiers were David Hood (Kerikeri) who reached the quarter-finals and Dan Collett, Dennis Brewster, Paul Wightman and Steve Smith who also qualified.
The men's pairs saw three pairs reach the last 16: Peter Dorreen and Don Cameron; Dennis Brewster and Steve Mitchell; David Hood and Barry Alison; Sam Nelson and Simon Reesby, Paul Wightman and David Frame.
In the women's section qualifiers were Ann Muir and Jude Ganley; Lauren Mills playing with Denise Samuel of Birkenhead; and Diane Strawbridge and Margaret Gurney.
Lost & Found
Lost: One set of umpire's equipment in a small black bag. This could be at a bowling club. If you have it at your club please contact Gwen.
Found: One white sleeveless white jacket with a hood. One black jacket with hood. Both left after centre fixtures. Please contact Gwen or the centre office.
Boundary liners
There are two new boundary liners for sale for clubs or umpires. Anyone interested please contact Carol on 4302062.
Reminders
Entries for the Centre Junior 1-5 year Inter Club Sixes are now due. Entry is $60 per team. Please forward entries to the centre office. Clubs may combine for this event.
Entries are also being accepted for men and women open singles and the junior 1-5 year pairs.
Charity event
The recent Masonic Charity Bowls Tournament played at the Kamo greens was well patronised with two full greens.
The six prizes were distributed between the two greens and the winners were: Gary Herbert, Grant Bush, Malcolm Wyatt and Ann Herbert on B Green and Ken Hodgson, Peter Herbert, Jean Roxburgh and Peter Davis on C Green.
