A 20-year-old has been charged with presenting a firearm after an Armed Offenders Squad call-out at Waipapa.
Jarred Darlington allegedly pointed a rifle at a bailiff who was visiting the Koropewa Rd address to seize property on court orders about 10.50am on Friday.
Armed police from throughout the Far North sealed off roads off Pungaere Rd and called in the Whangarei-based AOS, a police dog and specialist negotiating team.
The accused was arrested without incident at 2.35pm, held in police cells overnight and appeared in the Kaikohe District Court on Saturday.
He is due back in court on October 31.
Court documents list his occupation as a contractor.
Several other people were at the house at the time, one of whom took to Facebook soon after the drama. About 3.20pm, Rimi Hawkins-Attwood posted on his page: "F**n armed offender squad at th pad unwell."
Later, after friends asked him to elaborate, he added: "Hard bro woke up went to driv to th shop geta feed only got out the drivedway and there al jumping out the bush with tyre spikes and sh*t f**n buzzy".
When a friend jokingly suggested he take on the AOS, he replied: "Had about 10 dudes pointing m4s at me wudnt of bn a wise move wuda gt shot hahaha."
