Police are still deciding whether charges will be laid over a motor vehicle crash involving Te Tai Tokerau MP and Mana Movement leader Hone Harawira.
Mr Harawira survived unscathed when he lost control of his car south of the Mangamuka Gorge, with the vehicle ending up against a tree last month.
Far North Area Commander Inspector Wendy Robilliard said that while the matter was under investigation police were not able to make any further comment regarding the circumstances of the crash.
She said police had spoken to Mr Harawira and rang him on the night of the crash to inquire about his welfare and ask about the circumstances of the crash.
The next day police visited him at his home.
Ms Robilliard said the first person to hear about the outcome of the police investigation would be Mr Harawira.
