Two drown on Northland's west coast

Two people have drowned after a fishing trip turned to tragedy in Northland today.

Emergency services were called to Maunganui Bluff, near Dargaville, on the west coast at 2pm.

By the time they reached the beach the bodies of two people had been located.

A third person was found in a serious condition and was stabilised before being airlifted to Whangarei Hospital.
