Weather forecasters predicted heavy rain for Northland yesterday and overnight and they were right, with more than 90mm falling in some parts of the region.
MetService media and communications meteorologist Daniel Corbett said in the 24 hours to 8am today 98mm of rain fell in the hills north of Kerikeri while Kerikeri received 96mm of rain and Kaeo, just 23km north, 74mm.
Kaikohe received 61mm during the same period; Opua 58mm; Kaitaia 45mm; Whangerei 25mm and Dargaville 22mm.
The heavy rain warning has now been lifted for the region and Mr Corbett said there will be fine spells today after any odd showers clear from the east with a high 17C.
