Police find body

Police believe they have found the body of missing Rawene woman Barbara Moka.

The mother of four was last seen at a tangi at Te Piiti Marae, near Omanaia in south Hokianga, early on June 9. She left with her partner about 1am. He said they had a minor car crash about 200 metres from the marae, then returned on foot.

Police said this afternoon they located a body believed to be that of Ms Moka in the Omanaia area.

Formal identification was yet to take place and a post mortem examination would be carried out on Thursday morning to determine the cause of death.

Police said they appreciated the assistance of Barbara's family and friends during the inquiry. The family has asked for privacy.

More details are expected to come to light at a police press conference in Kaikohe on Thursday.
