Whangarei grandmother Api Theodore is kicking off a running group three mornings a week.
The 65-year-old health enthusiast came up with the idea, which she has named the 28 Formation, during her marathon 488km run and walk around Northland last year.
"It's named after the 28th Maori Battalion, they marched day in and day out."
The group will do walking, power-walking, jogging and running from next week on Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings, from 6am at Kensington Park. "I'll take the first 36 people that apply," she said.
