Region honours eight in New Year's list


Eight Northlanders have been recognised for their outstanding efforts in the Queen's New Year's Honours list.

The Honours recognise the outstanding achievements of those who work tirelessly in our community for the benefit of all.

Over the next two pages we pay tribute to the latest hard working and dedicated Northlanders who have been honoured at this time for their efforts. They are:

Peter Broughton (Rawiri Paratene) - Officer of the New Zealand Order of Merit for services to film, television and theatre; Dr John Childs - Member of the New Zealand Order of Merit for services to health; Dr John Laurence Craig - Officer of the New Zealand Order of Merit for services to conservation; Peter Francis Jensen - Member of the New Zealand Order of Merit for services to the public; Anthony James (Tony) Norman - Member of the New Zealand Order of Merit, for services to the community; Inspector Wendy Lynne Robilliard - Member of the New Zealand Order of Merit for services to the New Zealand Police and the community; Barry Noel Searle - Member of the New Zealand Order of Merit, for services to marine conservation and Barbara Frances Thomson - Queen's Service Medal for services to the performing arts.

The seniority of honours is: Member of the Order of New Zealand (ONZ); Dame or Knight Grand Companion of the New Zealand Order of Merit (GNZM); Dame or Knight Companion of the New Zealand Order of Merit (DNZM/KNZM); Companion of the New Zealand Order of Merit (CNZM); Companion of the Queen's Service Order (QSO); Officer of the New Zealand Order of Merit (ONZM); Member of the New Zealand Order of Merit (MNZM); the Queen's Service Medal (QSM); The New Zealand Antarctic Medal (NZAM) and New Zealand Distinguished Service Decoration (DSD).
