After growing from 18 classes a week in 2011 to 29 classes in 2012, Activ8 Northland has been given reward for making Northlanders work hard.
Activ8 Northland defended its title in the Small Group Training section, which is bootcamp style training, and won the Exercise Studio of the Year award at the 2012 Fitness Industry Awards.
Director, and health and fitness Activ8or, Ben Whittingham said a lot of hard work had gone into last weekend's win as they picked up the awards ahead of larger studios.
"This is a huge achievement for Activ8 and we are glad to be able to do Northland and Whangarei proud against the rest of New Zealand.
"We beat a studio from Christchurch to win the exercise studio award and also beat companies from Rotorua and Nelson to win the small group training award," Whittingham said.
"What an achievement, and an awesome proud moment for all the hard work the team had put into this."
Activ8 was entered into seven categories this year - ranging from personal trainers, fitness facilities, group fitness, the community and corporate initiatives.
Judges at the awards heaped praise on Whittingham's relatively small team ability to over-deliver in every aspect of their operation.
In order to win their awards, Whittingham's team were tested at random by either a mystery shopper, mystery phone caller or audited to see if they were telling the truth.
