Northlanders who fancy a chance at fame, and don't mind a bit of healthy criticism, can rejoice - X Factor New Zealand is hitting the region next year.
The X Factor New Zealand pre-audition tour will visit three Northland centres in the hunt for the country's next big recording star, the show's co-executive producer Andrew Szusterman said.
The tour will be at The Pulse, in Whangarei on February 4, Kingston House in Kerikeri February 5 and Kaitaia's Te Ahu Centre on February 6, between 10am and 3pm each day.
Anybody aged over 14 is eligible to enter as a solo performer or as part of a group. Contestants who are successful at the pre-auditions will then perform in front of the four judges and a live television audience.
Once through the final audition process, the performers are split into categories - males under 25, females under 25, the over 25s and the groups. Each judge mentors a group throughout the competition, and compete to be the best mentor and have the winning act.
The overall winner will sign a recording contract with Sony Music Entertainment New Zealand.
Multi-platinum recording artist Stan Walker, the first judge for X Factor New Zealand to be announced, says he is looking forward to seeing what Kiwis have to offer.
"I know New Zealand is full of amazing people and singers that just need a chance to show how great they are," Walker said.
"I want to encourage anyone who thinks they have what it takes, but is too scared to give it a try, to get up and give it a go. You've got nothing to lose."
